New Functions of Autodesk Inventor Professional 2024:
1. Professional design and engineering
1. Improved performance and productivity
- In Inventor Professional 2024, you will experience improved performance in the following workflows:
- Inventor is more responsive when using window selection or component filtering to select many components at the same time.
- Visibility state changes are faster with selected or saved views.
- Performance when inserting subassemblies has been improved.
- Experience faster visibility changes when directly flipping the visibility of a component or using a saved view.
2. Frame generator
Many productivity enhancements have been made to the frame generator, including file naming, new category filters, editing features, and more.
- Improved the file naming dialog to give you more detailed control over the naming scheme of frame generator components. A new option lets you set a component’s filename to be the same as its display name in the browser.
- When creating frames, a new Category filter lets you simplify your selection, while Presets help you save your most-used frame settings for later.
- Geometry can now be filtered from the properties panel, and a new preview glyph helps you to orient the frame when selecting skeletal geometry.
- The new zoom tool helps you adjust the view to be perpendicular to the frame manipulator or to an isometric view perpendicular to the frame manipulator.
- Members on surfaces can be terminated using the Trim/Extend command.
- Added two new notch profiles in end treatments, extending notch support to ‘I’, ‘C’ and ‘T’ profiles and round members.
- The “Reuse” command for frame members has been significantly overhauled, making it easier to select the original member in a collection of reused frame members to populate your skeleton geometry.
3. Design enhancement
This release further enhances the Unwrap command with the option to align results to the “Model” or XY, XZ, YZ planes. You can also select multiple planar holes as Rigid.
The inventor’s experience
1. Dark theme preview
Inventor professional 2024 offers a new Light Theme interface, and Inventor Professional 2024 includes a preview of Inventor’s new Dark theme.
2. Command interface and productivity enhancements
The Properties panel continues to expand to more areas of Inventor. You can now use it in Bend, Coil, Merge, Duplicate Object, Decal, Delete Face, Split, Thicken/Offset, and all Frame Generator commands Simplified property panel workflow.
1. Interoperability
Revit AnyCAD: Autodesk Inventor is committed to serving companies in the construction industry through seamless integration with Revit data.
- Improved interoperability between Revit and Inventor by maintaining associative links to inserted Revit data as you work. Revit projects can be accessed from local files or coordinated through the cloud using the Autodesk BIM 360 common data environment.
- Changes are inevitable during the design process. When the Revit model changes, the Inventor model needs to be updated to accommodate. Since the Revit model is referenced in your Inventor assembly without file conversion – any changes to the Revit project will also be updated in the Inventor assembly.
2. Translation
- JT Export now supports exporting software-interpretable semantic Product Manufacturing Information (PMI). Previously, check the exported graphical PMI data in the Product Manufacturing Information box.
- Added support for Parasolid version 32 import.
- Import and AnyCAD formats have updated for Solid Edge, SolidWorks and Unigraphics.
4. Customer Driven Improvements
1. Parts: Autodesk Inventor 2024 enhances the part level for sheet metal, multibody parts and 3D annotations.
- Sheet metal flanges can now defined by reference planes or faces, allowing easy matching of exact angles (not available in LT).
- Significantly reduce mouse clicks by using familiar window selection to select multiple solids or faces in a part.
- Consistency between 3D annotations and custom iProperties can maintained by referencing them as leader annotations and regular annotations.
2. Assemblies:
Autodesk Inventor 2024 has enhanced assembly-level enhancements for tube and pipe, assembly structure, and file naming conventions (not available in LT).
- The “File Naming” dialog has extended to include the “Mirror” and “Copy” commands.
- When saving a file, enabled a new option to set the default behavior of whether to save the file or not. A new “Save Status” column in the save dialog helps you understand which files Inventor is prompting you to save and why.
- To help you build assemblies, the functionality available in Shaft Component Builder has extended to bolted connections.
3. Tube
- Improved file naming for “Tube and Tube” designs (not available in LT).
- The “Apply” button when using the “Autoroute” option lets you stay in the command to create the next route.
4. Drawings
Autodesk Inventor 2024 offers drawing-level enhancements with automated documentation tools to better streamline your workflow.
- Linetype is now a display style with more options for more control over the appearance of BOM referenced parts in drawings. Use one of the new options; Edges as References, Shaded or Edges as Parts, Shaded to display reference files in color with or without dashed outlines.
- The ability to add automatic centerlines to drawing views has made easier to discover with a new button in the ribbon for the Automatic Centerline command.
- When dimensioning views, we have improved Inventor’s ability to detect diameter dimensions for side or section views when parallel geometry is selected.
- By popular request, the Measure command has returned to the Tools tab in the drawing environment. Allowing you to take measurements from within the drawing without creating additional annotations.
- The new “Rotate” option in the “Dimension” command allows you to align dimensions perpendicular to the selected edge.
- To help you with documentation, we have simplified the workflow for copying and pasting common tables in drawings.
5. Automation:
Sheet Format and iLogic make it easier than ever to automatically create drawings to CAD standards in Autodesk Inventor 2024.
- View layouts saved to sheet format now retain view settings such as edge display. We’ve included a new “fit view to sheet” option to automatically scale the view.
- The drawing format now supports flat patterns for sheet metal parts and parts lists for assemblies. All of which will automatically populated from the reference model when you create the drawing.
- To further help you automate the creation of drawings, iLogic’s ability to add dimensions, annotations and balloons from dimensioned features has improved. Support for changing drawing styles using iLogic has also added. Making it easier to change styles to suit your clients or to bulk edit styles to help conform to CAD standards.
