Chaos Group released the V-Ray 6 for Sketchup version, V-Ray allows you to explore your design in real time, modify it interactively, and make design decisions quickly. Quickly preview hundreds of scenes with different lighting conditions, new materials, and perfect your renderings directly in SketchUp.
V-Ray for SketchUp is very easy to use and the rendering results are amazing. You can use it to make any work, whether it is a 3D analysis diagram or a high-quality rendering. Everything depends on your choice. Supported SketchUP versions: 2019 2020 2021 2022 2023.
Chaos V-Ray 6 for SketchUp New Features:
1. Compatible with Enscape
Scenes set up using Enscape will now render in V-Ray. V-Ray will automatically handle materials, lights and even Enscape footage, providing a great starting point for transitioning from the Enscape design phase to high-end visualization in V-Ray.
2. Rendering
The Rendering Continuation function has implemented.
The interactive rendering workflow has updated. The interactive UI toggle is removed, the production render settings are always visible. Interactive rendering is enabled by using the Render Interactive button on the toolbar, located in the material editor or VFB, all rendering-related icons in the toolbar and resource editor have been updated
3. Procedural Clouds
Procedural clouds can now enabled in V-Ray sky textures. Select the sun in the project to change cloud parameters
Implemented dynamic clouds. Enable the option in the sunlight parameters to automatically move the clouds when the time of day changes. Use wind speed, direction, and phase velocity parameters to control motion
4. Enhanced mesh
V-Ray Enmesh has implemented. Apply the Enmesh modifier to the geometry, then pick the item to cover its surface.
5. Material tags
Implemented a new tag system for grouping scene materials in the outline. Use tags to organize and work more efficiently in complex projects
Outline tags can now assigned to multiple assets at once via the context menu
Right-clicking a tag icon now displays a context menu with options to delete or rename the tag
6. Camera Cutout
Camera Cutout option added to the Advanced Camera Parameters rollout. Use the feature to clamp nearby objects into tight spaces. You can also get SketchUp SP3 2023.
7. Improvements to materials and textures
- Implemented distance textures. The map outputs color values based on object proximity, can used to limit hair generation, or even used as a displacement map.
- Dirt map exclusion and influence options. Exclude objects from dirt effects or ensure they are ignored when calculating proximity.
- All V-Ray materials have GTR energy compensation enabled. This option uses the Microfacet GTR (GGX) BRDF model to ensure more accurate reflectance values for most blurry reflection materials.
- Thin film parameters added to V-Ray materials. Toggle Advanced Parameters to view Thin Film rollout.
- Implemented the Car Paint 2 material. It replaces the old car paint in the UI with improved flakes and coats
Improved rendering appearance of V-Ray materials with SSS Translucency and UI. - Auto transfer function mode added to bitmap maps. Note that the parameter formerly known as color space is now correctly renamed transfer function. It determines the gamma correction curve applied to the bitmap.
- The Mix Amount parameter is added to the Mix (Operator) texture. It specifies the degree to which the two input textures are blended.
- The slider accuracy of the Reflection Glossiness and Metalness parameters of VRay Mtl increases.
8. Color Management
ACEScg color space management has implemented. Select ACEScg RGB Primaries in the color management settings to ensure that V-Ray renders in the new color space. Most standard RGB bitmap textures should use the sRGB Primaries option in this workflow
ACEScg color space support has added to the color picker
9. Lighting
Added the limit parameters of the Dome light source in the dome light source
10. Material preview swatches
Real-time preview of decals has realized.
A sphere sample preview scene has added for material materials. Preview is similar to the one used in Cosmos
11. Framebuffer window VFB
panorama viewer has implemented. Use the Panorama view toggle in the View menu to enable the new mode. Then look around by holding down the middle mouse button and moving the mouse.
Scale guide layers are implemented to help you with segmentation and composition
Batch image processing is implemented. Use it to rectify a set of pre-rendered images
Implemented flip buttons. Use Quick Flip to revisit image composition and verify that it works correctly with all settings
Dither colors in framebuffer to avoid low contrast gradient bars
12. V-Ray GPU
added support for lighting analysis render elements
Improved performance and reliability
Improved handling of trace depth limits
Round edge rendering quality
13. Cosmos
Cosmos has updated to the latest version
Materials from the standard material library are now in Cosmos. The legacy material library will phased out, Cosmos will remain the central unified material provider
Improved import of specific Cosmos materials
14. General
Materials created in SketchUp are no longer treated as fully functional V-Ray materials by default. They are listed as host materials in the asset editor and can upgraded to V-Ray shaders at any time. This is done to help with scene organization and navigation and new Enscape compatibility to optimize animation export. Exporting SketchUp animations for rendering is now more than 10 times faster.
To achieve this, we reimplemented on the V-Ray side the frame interpolation logic that SU uses when evaluating camera or sun animations The V-Ray scene importer has updated and can now import any V-Ray shader. “Unsupported” shading nodes use auto-generated UI – still editable. Note that this feature is still experimental. It is now possible to apply multiple geometry modifiers to the same scene object.
For example, Fur and Scatter Cosmos browser windows can now combined The browser window now reappears automatically after placing assets and changing the active tool VFB configurations are now preserved between installs.
The history folder location now persists between installs Resolved an issue that caused the VFB window to below SketchUp in certain circumstances Changing the selection of the GPU device used for rendering or denoising using the GPU device selection tool no longer causes various issues and crashes Resolved an issue that caused a crash when starting a render after a scene wiped.
15. Vision
- implemented a new system for evaluating Chaos V-Ray textures. Vision now supports most of V-Ray’s procedural maps and map corrections.
- Implemented measurement tools. Use the Z key to enable the tool, then select the distance between two points to measure.
- Added depth of field support. Change the DOF setting in V-Ray to see the effect in Vision.
- Implemented new handling of material opacity. No more visual artifacts when multiple transparent objects overlap in the frame.
- Overall stability and reliability of Vision has improved Parameters in the Settings panel are now
organized by rollout. - Output image file paths can now manually edited.
- Resolves an issue that prevented Vision from running on macOS.
